This year, Canadians across the nation are celebrating the seventh annual Culture Days, and YOU are invited to participate locally through a vibrant array of interactive activities in your hometown. On the weekend of Sept. 30 through Oct. 2, fantastic events, workshops, and open houses are contributing to the official Culture Days festival. Pack your weekend with any of the 75+ activities to choose from province-wide.
Choose from a Raku Pottery Open House in Beaver Dam, an Atelier de danse carrée acadienne in Memramcook, or take part in the Art in the Valley tour and touch down at one of 12 participating galleries and studios in the Upper Saint John River Valley. Tour Moncton Galleries, or Paint Out in Town Square in Mirimichi. Events catering to literary and spoken word enthusiasts, aspiring writers, and your inner beatnik include a Poetry Slam and Fog Lit Festival in Saint John, a Soirée de poésie Micro-Ouvert in Shediac, or a chat with author Sylvianne Blanchette in Edmunston. Head to Moncton to attend the Symposium d’art/nature, and enjoy art and performances around town in Sackville during Culture Comes Together (10 mini events in one afternoon!). Many artists are opening up their studios, and N.B. Libraries are offering Culture Days programming. Events are planned in either official language (sometimes both), and are all free of charge. Honouring our unique status as Canada’s only officially bilingual province, ArtsLink NB and CPSC are pleased to present a traditional Maritime Kitchen Party in Sackville, N.B. featuring performances by Steve Haley and the Trio de Jazz Brian Coughlan. Catered by none other than The Everyday Food Truck, this family-friendly music-driven event kicks off at the Sackville Legion at 7 p.m. Minors are welcome, but must be accompanied.
Culture Days is a Canada-wide celebration of culture, focused on activities that make art accessible, engaging, and inclusive. Over 8,000 activities have been registered across the country, celebrating both our cultural diversity and heritage. The arts are vital to all New Brunswickers; Culture Days highlights their essential contribution to wellbeing and development in communities across the province and the country. Culture is made to be shared. Artists and arts organizations of all disciplines use Culture Days every year to make sure that culture is for everyone, regardless of age, geography, background or income.
Culture Days is supported by the Province of New Brunswick, and individual events receive additional support from local partners and businesses.
