Illustrators create visual content for two to four stories each issue. Illustrations can be made in any media, from lithograph to digital collage. They are responsible for familiarizing themselves with the stories they illustrate and encouraged to correspond with the writers during this process. Assignments are given by the illustration editor early in the week and submissions are due on a weekly basis on Sunday evenings.
The three key qualities applicants should possess are strong time management skills, illustration experience (personal or professional). Additionally, the ability to understand the key components of a story, and represent them visually, while adding to the overall reading experience is an asset, but also a skill that is developed over time. Applicants should be comfortable digitizing their work.
