The production manager is in charge of creating, updating, and maintaining the design of printed issues. The manager also designs the layout for centrefolds and any other pages that can benefit from artistic arrangement of visual content. Each week, the manager sets up templates for editors and overviews all sections before publication to ensure pages adhere to visual guidelines. The Argosy uses In Design for page layout and Photoshop for editing visual content. Applicants should have experience with Photoshop. Extensive experience with InDesign not required, but a huge asset.
- Assisting with training (teaching editorial staff how to use InDesign) during first week of classes
- Attending production night each Tuesday 5:30 p.m. onwards, until all pages are completed
- Setting up InDesign templates for section editors before Tuesday production at 5:30 p.m.
Strong applicants will be highly creative, competent with photo editing software, and able to work independently. They should also be strong team-players and possess original creative vision and motivation to ensure the newspaper is visually appealing and innovative.
