Bringing Nigerian Cuisine to the School Community
By: Oluwa Feyisola Rahman
My name is Oluwafeyisola Rahman. I am a fourth year student with a major in Psychology with minors in Economics and Commerce. Cooking started as a hobby and source of joy, but over time it became something more meaningful. Wanting to share my passion with food with others, I decided to turn that hobby into a business which led to the creation of Feyisola’s Kitchen. Through Feyisola’s Kitchen, I combine my love for cooking with entrepreneurship using skills from my academic background such as understanding people, managing resources, and building connections. The business allows me to share authentic Nigerian cuisine with the school community while expressing my culture and creativity through food.
Feyisola’s Kitchen is a student-run food business dedicated to sharing authentic Nigerian cuisine while building community through food. Founded by a student entrepreneur with a passion for cooking, the business highlights the richness of Nigerian culture through flavourful, home-style meals.
The menu features popular Nigerian dishes such as jollof rice, fried rice, Ofada rice, okra soup, egusi soup, and many more. Each meal is prepared with care, focusing on quality ingredients, bold flavours, and cultural authenticity. Customers can view the menu, updates, and ordering information through the business’ Instagram page, @feyisolas_kitchen, which serves as the main platform for engagement.
Beyond the food itself, the business emphasizes consistency and customer connection. Feedback from customers plays an important role in shaping the menu and improving service, allowing the business to grow while staying true to its values such as respect and traditional heritage, pride, identity, and community.
“As a Nigerian, food is a big part of how we show love and culture,” says Feyisola, founder of Feyisola’s Kitchen. “I wanted to create something that not only tastes good but also represents where I come from and brings people together.”
Feyisola’s Kitchen is more than a food business. It is a celebration of culture, creativity, and student entrepreneurship, offering a taste of Nigeria to the school community one plate at a time.
