A student is at the center of an ethical dilemma after submitting an essay that contained several gender and racial stereotypes. The essay, titled “The Problem with Material Feminism,” was submitted to a first-year sociology course and immediately caught the attention of the professor. After attending a meeting with the department faculty, it was revealed that the student never even knew about the concerning content of the essay.
“I swear to god I had never even read the thing,” the student said during an interview with Argosy reporter DJ Cormier.
“I used ChatCBT to write the whole thing, I just uploaded the instructions and copy-pasted what it spit out. If I had read it I would have never submitted it.”
When asked for a statement about the racist and misogynistic content of the 500-word essay, the University responded:
“We take academic dishonesty very seriously and absolutely condemn the use of AI in any form of academic writing.”
After raising the issue to the Committee of Canadian Knowledge (COCK), the student’s future depends on COCK’s decision.
“I just hope I don’t lose my scholarship man, I swear to god I’m not racist my roommate is a model minority.”
Until COCK comes to their decision the student has been suspended and banned from the athletic centre until further notice.
