Fall activities to indulge in sweater weather

Apples and pumpkins, ghost photos, and little leaf critters are sure to warm you up!

As the smell of fireplaces, cinnamon, apple cider and pumpkins fill the air and you feel a brisk chill, you may be looking for things to do to get the most out of autumn. To not miss out on this once-a-year seasonal fun, you must shed your summertime skin and embrace the cool activities of Fall. From apple and pumpkin harvesting adventures and spooky ghost photographs to making use of the fallen leaves and turning them into crafty little critters, there is so much to do this season.

When you think of fall, two harvest plants jump to mind: the sweet and tart crunch of a fresh apple, and finding the perfect orange small or large pumpkin. These two flavourful plants are not only delicious, but also key pieces to some fun fall activities. With apples, it is the perfect time of year to go to an orchard with some friends. Take a drive down to Belliveau Orchard in Memramcook to pick some of your own apples and support local farmers.  Another option of a similar kind is to go to a pumpkin patch to pick out fresh pumpkins for eating or for a jack’o lantern. Trueman Blueberry Farm in Aulac has just what you need when it comes to ice cream, blueberries, and pumpkin patches. At both of these locations you can take aesthetic pictures and purchase fresh produce. Once you get home, if you are talented at baking you can try making some apple or pumpkin spice treats.

A trend that has been around for a couple of years now is taking ghost photographs. To do this, you need a camera, white sheet, scissors, a friend, and some spooky locations! You cut holes for eyes in the white sheet and put it on like a costume. After that, you go to some locations and get your friend to take pictures of you frolicking. It does not have to be Halloween for you to dress up and have a good time, but this little trend is perfect for once the leaves start turning.

Last but not least, there is a new trend going around on Instagram and TikTok which is even craftier than the ghost photoshoot. For this activity, you need acrylic paint, fresh fall leaves, and paint brushes. You would then proceed to paint on the leaves and decorate them into fresh DIY decorations! The ideas I have seen recently are making faces on the leaves, using the shapes on the leaves to your advantage. My favourite decoration I have seen uses a maple leaf to make a fox face. You use the base of the leaf as the snout, and the two points as the ears, and the middle point as a bit of the animal’s forehead! This adorable trend is sure to help brighten up your day and your home.

Now that you are filled with fun and festive ideas for what to do this fall, let the brisk chill invite you to seek out some unforgettable adventures. Fully embrace this time of year, let go of the spirit of summer and dive into the delightful activities fall has to offer. From apple and pumpkin harvesting to creating spooky ghostly photographs and transforming fallen leaves into crafty creations, there are so many fun ideas waiting for you. So, make the most of this magical season by creating memories among the bright colours and crisp air!
