Welcome to a new year of The Argosy, determined to continue bringing you stories that matter while looking with fresh eyes to the future.
For many, January is a fresh start. Do you make New Year’s resolutions? We asked the student body—here’s what you had to say:
- Yes: 53.3%
- No: 30%
- Sometimes: 16.7%
For those who completed a resolution in 2024, 51.9% recorded having not completed their resolutions—just over the majority. 25.9% said yes, and the rest (22.2%) gave assorted replies somewhere in the middle: goals being still in progress and respondents forgetting their resolutions were common answers.
66.7% of the respondents have made a resolution for this upcoming year! Common resolutions include internal growth and mental health (“To not care as much/go with the flow”, “ learn how to manage anxiety […] communicate better, etc”), fitness (“have my hands flat on the ground without bending my knees at all”, “Be more active”, “exercise more often”), and lifestyle changes (“Paint more”, “play guitar at least 20 minutes a day”; multiple answers also included reading goals, etc).
Personally? My goals are hard to pin down, but ongoing journeys—something that might end up a “sort of” silver on next year’s completion graph. I want to move my body. I want to keep being kind. I want to continue the hard work of building a community, which also motivates me as an editor to keep sharing stories that matter. Happy New Year, Tantramar.
