The ACAA had their first cross-country meet this weekend and the Mount Allison team is looking forward to a great season. The meet was hosted by Holland College and took place at the nordic centre in Brookvale, P.E.I.
Teams were present from Mount Saint Vincent University, Crandall University, Dalhousie Agricultural Campus, Holland College and Université Sainte-Anne. Mt. A’s women’s team of seven runners took first place for the 5km race that included 27 competitors. The team saw big finishes from Beth Torrance in fifth place, Carly Penrose in sixth, and Olivia Medsger in seventh.
Mt. A entered two teams of seven runners each in the men’s 8km race. The B team took second place in the race, while the A team took third place. The race resulted in exciting finishes from Matt Fyfe in second, John Beninger in third, and Andrew Linton in fifth.
According to fourth-year runner Connor Lane, “the Brookvale course is undoubtedly the most challenging, but the difficulty of the course is lost in the enjoyment of good running conditions and good company.” The team will run their next race on Oct. 1st at Université Sainte-Anne.
