My favorite experience:

One of my favorite aspects of this trip was exploring Kyoto and finding new restaurants to try. The food and hospitality in Japan was incredible. Another highlight of this trip was hiking Fushimi Inari Shrine; I was amazed by the torii gates.

Something different or surprising I experienced:

Japanese culture differs significantly from Canadian culture in many ways. For me, learning the cultural norms and how to act respectfully was an enriching experience.

Words of advice:

Be open minded and embrace all available new experiences. Talk to community members, and immerse yourself in the culture.

Why I would recommend it:

For me, participating in the Kyoto Field School was transformative, both academically and personally. It provided me with the freedom to explore my areas of interest and develop a deep connection to the sites we visited. On a personal level, I became enamored with a culture vastly different from my own. This experience proved pivotal in my ongoing pursuit of aligning my career with my values, passions, and aspirations.
